What is Oh KAY Gamers?
Everyone loves a good origin story, or at least, that is what I hope. And I admit, I wasn’t exactly sure how to start the blog posts for this website, so how about a good ole origin story to get things kickstarted?
Admittedly, right now, as I am writing this, I am not famous. I am not very well known. But I have a small and fantastic supportive community that all started essentially closer to November 2025.
However, the timeline stretches a little further back into March 2025 where I asked myself a simple question: What if I make a game?
Now, the first game I wanted to create if I had the resources and knowledge was similar to Goblin Cleanup. A horror/fantasy based cleanup game where players would have to run around the house cleaning up while avoiding traps, jumpscares, and more. There are very many games similar to this, but this is what I had in mind.
Obviously, things changed when I actually started to understand what effort goes into creating a game.
Which is a lot. Like a lot a lot.

I wasn’t quite prepared for it, but I guess I wasn’t steamrolled either. Considering I am writing books, a massive checklist doesn’t exactly intimidate me.
But I admit the checklist tends to multiply once you have to veer off from writing and dive into:
- Map building
- Sound Production
- Camera angles
- Voice Acting
- Coding
- Bugs
- Bugs
- Bugs
- Bugs
- Bugs
- Bugs
Bug fixing is probably the root cause of 90% of my pain at this point.
With that being said, as I took on my first gaming course on Unity, I realized that I would have to start with a first, smaller, horror game project. And thus, the idea of Paranoia was born.
I wanted a character who is somewhat capable of surviving horror situations to actually survive this one. But then place their fate more into the player’s hands than the characters. The character can be as smart as they want, but if the player doesn’t make the right choices it will result in their death.
Again, originally this was meant to be a small game.
But I have a curse. I start writing a story, and it just keeps growing and growing and growing. And the same thing happened here. My cousin also presented me with a simple idea: What if players get punished by getting sent to worse places when they make wrong choices?
I bit on this idea, but that also meant my work was blown up. And I reached the point where I knew this couldn’t be my first game anymore.
Thus – She’s Lost Here was born.
A simple game – navigate a maze, avoid monsters and find Jenny – the daughter in a backrooms-like style. It is still an incredibly janky game, and maybe in the near future I will absolutely revamp it, but right now, I am happy keeping it as it is.
And with my first small game being made, I needed a ‘company’ name. To sound more fancy cause hey, everyone was doing it.
And during this time, I went by Kay_1o1 within the Twitch world. Friends around me constantly made the pun of: Hope you are doing oh kay. A typical dad joke I would like to call it. And it did stick. I also knew that I wasn’t the best gamer, but I didn’t think I was the worst either. So being smack in the middle did make me an Oh KAY Gamer after all.
And thus Oh KAY Gamers was born. There are a couple of other practical reasons behind it. I want it to be memorable, easy to recall. I want people to recognize it once I have hopefully established for myself a solid narrative-horror games reputation. An example would be I recall Emika Games, or Behaviour from DBD. There is even DVeloper from the granny game series. I have played many horror games, but there are only a few that I can actually recall their developers’ names.
How successful I am to be memorable is another question though. But I am not going to concern myself with that too much right now.

Right now, I am focusing on my demo for Paranoia. For my design and vision of Shadow Guardian, and even thinking of ways to incorporate my books into this gaming world. That is the plan anyhow.
Combining and linking everything in a way that I can leave a legacy behind.
As my main goal is very simple: I want to write stories that make an impact.
As much as stories have truly impacted me.
God bless, and take care everyone! Now you all know the story about how Oh KAY Gamers came to be.
